He first discovered clay through handbuilding in 2010 before moving to the UK to pursue ceramics, completing his BA at Central Saint Martins in 2016 and his MA in Ceramics at the Royal College of Art in 2018.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eGrowing up as the son of a garage owner and mechanic in Hong Kong, Eugene spent much of his childhood watching his father make, repair and reassemble mechanical components. Those early experiences continue to influence his work, which draws inspiration from machinery, industrial architecture and the relationship between engineered forms. Working primarily with throwing, press moulding and slip casting, he combines carefully constructed forms with distinctive illustrated surfaces, often using slips, enamels, underglaze and lustre.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAlongside his studio practice, Eugene is an experienced and dedicated teacher. He has taught throwing, handbuilding, porcelain, surface decoration and glazing at studios and arts organizations across London, including Camden Art Centre. His teaching is attentive and highly individual: he observes each potter’s particular throwing habits and offers clear, practical guidance to help them refine their technique.
