Looking to loosen up a little bit? Have you been seeking ways to make your thrown surfaces more unique? Maybe you're just ready to try something totally different on the wheel? Come up to Fogo and learn about Ben's various ways of altering, imprinting, dimpling, and embellishing freshly thrown pots. We'll work with the clay in an "alla prima" way as you explore adding life and fluid textures onto your pots. We'll start small and then try larger forms. Handle demos and trimming will all be part of this extensive, hands-on workshop. Short slide shows, daily demos, and 1-on-1's will all be part of the learning process. Basic understanding of how to work on the potter's wheel is helpful.
Ben Eberle is a potter and educator living and making his work in western, MA. He spends his creative time between an active studio practice, kiln building, and teaching workshops whenever and wherever he can. He runs a wood-fired soda kiln where he hosts firing workshops throughout the year, using it as a catalyst for community and kiln education.
